Maker Faire is a gigantic exhibition of do-it-yourself crafting, building, and exploring in San Mateo. Those who arrive to the Faire by bike get free valet bike parking plus a patch and you don't have to park out in the boonies. Cycling is a very popular way to get to the Faire. Well, this is horrific:
Witnesses called police around 3:45 p.m. Sunday to report that a gold-color pickup was trying to run down the boys near Fourth Avenue and Grant Street. One of the youths had to jump off his bike to avoid being hit, and when he did, the driver ran over the bike and onto the sidewalk, said police Sgt. Dave Norris.
