Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) is a non-profit membership-based organization that seeks to create a healthy community, environment, and economy through bicycling for people who live, work, or play in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. We have a goal of 10% of trips taken by bicycle by 2025. In the past nine years, SVBC’s staff size has grown from one to ten employees, and our impact can be seen across the two counties we serve. Now hiring: Education Programs Coordinator

Purpose: The Education Programs Coordinator will play an important role in supporting the varied work of the Education Programs department, with an emphasis on Safe Routes to School (SR2S) programs in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Education Programs are an important part of SVBC’s mission and integral to several of our strategic outcomes. Position reports to Education Programs Manager and works closely with Deputy Director and Outreach Manager. Description: Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the Education Programs Coordinator supports the Safe Routes to School Program and other educational efforts by providing program coordination, education, and support to school districts, school sites, and community partners. This position will be running or supporting programs that engage youth grades K-12 as well as programs that provide bicycling safety and skills education to the general public, and shall assume accountability for the results in achieving the outlined goals and objectives of those programs. Primary responsibilities of the Education Programs Coordinator include (but are not limited to): Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate a wide-range of youth and family-related events. Measure performance, relevancy, and effectiveness of assigned programs. Ongoing program development and strategic planning. Work with the Outreach Manager to use a range of communication and marketing tools to promote events and increase attendance. Coordinate with partner organizations and cities to schedule, promote, and design effective programs. Instruct in-class and on-bike lessons on bicycle and pedestrian safety to youth ranging in age from 6-18. Coordinate and instruct a variety of adult education classes and events, including workshops, presentations, and skills courses.
