Help out at the 5th Annual Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot
This great fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank, Santa Clara Family Health Foundation, and Housing Trust of Santa Clara County is in need of volunteers. Course monitors are especially needed - a position you can ride your bike to! A couple hours' work will do you good before the evening's feast, plus it's for a great cause. Shifts are available between 7:00 am and 12:00 noon - volunteers must be at least 14 years old.

Help find safe routes to your local school

A rescheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8 2009, 12:30 – 2:00 pm at Burnett Academy at 2nd Street and Hedding Street in San Jose. The original November 20 meeting was cancelled.

Volunteers are needed to help out at the Noddin Elementary Bike Roadeo. The Roadeo will feature four stations that groups of students will visit, learning a simple safety technique at each one. For example, there is a station to learn avoiding objects in the street, and to check over your shoulder for cars.

Please volunteer for the Maker's Faire May 30th and 31st.
We will need more volunteers this year to accommodate the increased load. This is the premier do it yourself bike event in the US. Come see a bicycle powered band which will bicycle down with all the gear from the city, a bicycle powered merry go round, bicycle pedicabs, and much more.

SVBC Thanks our Volunteers
SVBC would like to thank the following volunteers for helping us park bicycles, attend tables, and take photos during the San Jose Cycling Classic and the Amgen Tour of California: Carlos Babcock, Dave Erskine, Sandy Vaurs, Daniel Goldsmith, Ray Durham, Leslee Hamilton, Jennifer Durham, Tom Zimlich, Billy James, Susan Magnolia, Alberto d'Souza, David Milton, and Robert Cronin.
Without your help we wouldn't have been able to have a presence at these cycling events, providing outreach and convenience to participants and attendees. Thanks so much!

Call for volunteers
SVBC provides bike parking for all the Stanford home football games. Please volunteer to help!
The game schedule this year is
- September 20th, 6 pm game time
- October 11th, 2 pm
- November 1st, time not set yet
- November 15th, 4 pm
Game times can be checked at http://gostanford.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/sched/stan-m-footbl-sched.html.
Volunteers need to be at the Stadium one and a quarter hours prior to game time.
Although volunteers prefer the afternoon games, we have to staff the evening games too. Volunteers get a deli sandwich, cold drink and a Stadium pass to share. If you can persuade a family member, neighbor, co-worker, friend or fellow bicyclist to volunteer too, that would be great! And the more games you can volunteer for, the better. It’s quite a fun job.
Please contact me at stanfordparking [at] bikesiliconvalley [dot] org.
Thanks.
Ellen Fletcher
