"The City of San Mateo is working with the community and its stakeholders to prepare a Station Area Plan for the Hillsdale Caltrain Station and area west of the Station. The plan will build upon planning efforts previously completed along El Camino Real, Bay Meadows and the station itself to plan for transit-oriented development, creating new opportunities for a range of housing, jobs and improved/safer pedestrian and bicycle connections to the station." Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition community equinox bike ride
Meet up in San Carlos for a fun bike ride to celebrate the vernal equinox. This community ride, hosted by the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, will generally travel counter-clockwise around Redwood Shores on flat terrain. Detours will take the group to see the bike lanes on Twin Dolphin and trail connections near the dog park and the Redwood Shores Library.
Along the way, the group will cross over a couple of tricky freeway overpasses at Ralston and Holly Streets. Timid riders will want to proceed with caution, but there will be several, more experienced riders to help out.

Hillsdale Bridge Proposal
The City of San Mateo is proposing a separate bicycle/pedestrian bridge to provide an alternative to the existing Hillsdale Boulevard/101 over crossing. The proposed new structure will be located south of the existing Hillsdale Boulevard over crossing, and will connect multi-use paths on either side of Highway 101 between Norfolk and Hillsdale Court. Completion of the bridge is not expected until 2010 to 2011 at the earliest.
The final proposed bridge location and other details are available (PDF): HillsdaleBlvd101OverCrossing.pdf
A drawing of bridge (top view, PDF) is also available: EngPlans.pdf
