Join the City of San Mateo at its upcoming “Taste and Talk” Series on Wednesday, March 5th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM taking place at Draper University (55 E. Third Avenue).
Next week’s forum is about “Greening the Street.” Presented by Phil Erickson, nationally renown urban designer and President of Community Design + Architecture, will identify and describe the components of a green street.
Believe it or not, it’s more than trees. Although an important part of the streetscape, Green Streets also consider the materials that can be used to reduce and better mange stormwater runoff through landscaping and design. Green Streets, which complement the Complete Streets movement, also provide great social value and create a sense of a place throughout a community.
San Mateo’s “Taste and Talk” Series is part of the Sustainable Streets Plan, which is a long-term vision to re-engineer transportation throughout the community – making it accessible, safe, and more sustainable for those using all modes of transit including: walking, driving, biking, and public transit.
Those attending the “Taste and Talk” Series will enjoy an opportunity to mingle with the presenters and meet other community members sharing similar concerns.
The events are FREE, but space is limited. Please visit www.sustainablestreetssanmateo.com to register or for more information about the “Taste and Talk” Series and the Sustainable Streets Plan. Funding for the “Taste and Talk” Series is provided by Caltrans.
Participants will enjoy an evening of great food and great speakers!
