ROMP (Responsible Organized Mountain Pedalers) is riding the levees of the South Bay to see the wildflowers and birds and enjoy spinning the flats. This ride starts at the Mountain View Castro train station, then catches the Stevens Creek Trail to the dirt Bay Trail. No fancy kits or carbon road bikes needed, in fact old school hardtails and crossbikes are best as they'll be on dirt and gravel mostly. Make sure you’ve got some cash for a lunch stop at Maria’s in Alviso too. The ride to Alviso is about 25 miles at a casual pace, and you can always head back at any point. There’s also an option to take the Light Rail on Tasman back if you've had the big burrito or margarita. If you choose to ride back there will be the Bay headwind and it turns into a 40 mile ride.
Meetup location: Park in the Caltrain parking lot, on the street or nearby lots. The group will be staging near the Caltrain plaza/railroad tracks.
Helmets: ROMP rides with them. Don’t forget yours!
Weather: The ride will be cancelled if it rains the night before. Check the Meetup site for updates. http://www.meetup.com/mtbromp/events/114741152/
