350.org Bay Area and the SF Bay and Loma Prieta chapters of the Sierra Club and NRDC are organizing a public rally against the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. The event will be held in San Francisco on Sunday February 17, on the same day as the national “Forward on Climate” action planned in Washington D.C. by 350.org and Sierra Club national organizations.
Citizens from all over the Bay Area concerned by the lack of progress to avert climate change will gather at One Market Plaza in downtown San Francisco. Protesters will encircle the One Market Plaza block, where an office of the US Department of State is located, and demand that the Department reject the construction permit for the Keystone XL pipeline due to the severe impact that the development of the Canadian tar sands would have on the world’s climate.
