Help the City of San Jose evaluate new bike facilities by volunteering for a bike/ped count on May 3, 2012 in downtown San Jose.
One- or two-hour shifts are available between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. The counts will focus on the corner of San Fernando Street and Fourth Street. Volunteering requires watching over a video camera set up in Martin Luther King Public Library. (Department of Transportation staff will conduct the actual counts and analysis afterward by playing back the video tape.) If you are interested or have questions, please contact Ryan Smith at ryan.smith@sanjoseca.gov. If you’d like to volunteer, please include your hours of availability in your email.
Background:
On April 10, 2012, San Jose City Council unanimously approved six downtown bikeway projects, which will be constructed this June. To evaluate the facilities, San Jose DOT will be conducting “Before” counts in May 2012 and “After” counts about one year later.
