The following accomplishments have helped foster a better relationship between motorists and cyclists on the roadways:
- Translated the Share the Road pamphlet into Spanish, to expand our reach to more users of the road.
- Developed a Share the Road pamphlet: Cyclist & Motorist Safe Roadways Gudelines. The flyers are distributed at many outreach events.
- Developed a Share the Road powerpoint presentation to present to a wide variety of organizations - from cycling groups to motorist associations and the public at large.
- Developed and distributing Incident Report cards through various tabling opportunities.
- Got a Share the Road billboard displayed to traffic on Hwy 101.
- Got Share the Road billboards attached to cement trucks traveling to and from quarry on Stevens Canyon.
- Put together a web form to collect data on incidents that cyclists encounter.
- Developed a Share the Road Pledge statement consisting of a statement of support for sharing the road safely with cyclists and motorists and a signature page. This was launched in 2007 and resulted in numerous pledges collected in support of safer roads.
- Developed and administering a survey asking participants to rate safety issues on their ability to contribute to a safe place for both motorists and cyclists on the roadways.
- Held memorial rides in conjunction with the family on several occasions when cyclists have been killed.
- Maintaining our Share the Road website with current safety activities, information and resources.
- Holding committee meetings on ideas to improve the Share the Road initiative.
- Printing and distributing Share the Road water bottles and bumper stickers to help increase awareness.
- Held a press conference and ride in 2007 to highlight safety issues to the media; received coverage on multiple TV and radio stations.
