Menlo Park/Atherton Ride

On Sunday November 16, I led a group of six other riders around Menlo Park and Atherton. Some of the highlights of the tour:
The presumed site for a future undercrossing of the Caltrain tracks between Ravenswood and San Francisquito Creek.
The Alma Street bike bridge.
Willow Road, where the bike lanes are actually wide enough to avoid the door zone.
The Willow-101 interchange. Very bad now, but slated for redesign, and an opportunity to make it more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly.
The Willow-Bayfront Expressway intersection. Passable now, but threatened by a possible redesign that would make it much worse for bicyclists.
A portion of Bay Trail between Willow Road and Marsh Road.
The aging Ringwood bike-pedestrian overcrossing over 101. It will be replaced by something better as part of construction of auxiliary lanes between Marsh and Willow.
Bike lanes on Bay Road.
Marsh-101 interchange. Very challenging for cyclists.
Middlefield Road bike lanes in Atherton. Substandard width in some places.
Willow Place bike bridge. Southern terminus of the N-S bike route in San Mateo County.
San Mateo Drive bike bridge. A little history: It was built in the seventies despite strong neighborhood opposition.
Bike lanes on Santa Cruz Avenue.
Lunch at Le Boulanger.
