Los Altos BPAC Report

November 12, 2008 - 2:35pm -- maiki

The city council held a working session on the Stevens Creek Trail Feasibility Study. Jeannie Bruins, co-chair of the citizens' task force, presented a short summary of the history, methodology, and conclusions of the study. This was followed by a lively public comments session and council discussion. The study includes five possible trail routes and recommends one. The recommended route picks up the trail in Mountain View on the east side of Hwy 85 (where the current Mt. View route will cross the freeway) and continues southward on the east side to (almost) Fremont Rd. Here it follows the creek under 85 and along the S85/Fremont exit. From there it follows Fremont Rd west to Grant Rd, south on Grant to Homestead. The complete study, including maps (a picture really is worth a thousand words) is available at http://www.ci.los-altos.ca.us/committees-commissions/bpac/content/sct_fe....

Despite very vocal opposition, the council seems inclined to move ahead with something. A council subcommittee has been formed, with their first task to hold meetings with their peers from Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino.
