Campbell BAC Update

November 4, 2008 - 5:10am -- Visitor

East Campbell Avenue Improvement Project: The 35% Submittal plans were reviewed by City staff and comments were returned to the consultant team. This project involves Campbell Avenue from Railroad Avenue to Union Avenue and includes widening the bridge over Los Gatos Creek. Currently there are right of way issues with property owners. These right of ways will accommodate sidewalks and bulb-outs. Until recommendations are returned from the consultants, the project is on hold.

Oktoberest: Again this year the Campbell BAC had an information booth at this annual event. We had maps of Campbell with all the bike lanes/routes marked, Los Gatos Creek Trail maps, and brochures about ACTC and county WEB sites for more information on other bike routes outside of the City of Campbell. It was a fantastic event and with the current economic and global issues lots of folks were wanting information on bike riding.

Safe Routes to School Grant: Pollard Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Project. Staff submitted a grant application for a streamlined version of the project that excludes countdown pedestrian signals and lighted crosswalks. The project would include bike lanes between Burrows Road and La Corona Drive on Pollard Road and bike routes elsewhere along thr corridor of Pollard Road/Knowles Drive between Winchester Boulvard and Quito Road. The project would also install in-fill near York Avenue. The project would also include educational materials and a bike helmet giveaway. The status of this grant will be available at the next meeting.
