Research Study on Tragedy in the Cycling Community

Hi,

My friend, fellow cyclist and former teacher at San Jose State University, Dr. Matt Masucci, is conducting a research study on the way the local cycling community constructs meaning in the wake of a cycling tragedy. His main focus is how people made sense of the tragedy in March that claimed the lives of Kristy Gough and Matt Peterson. He would like to talk, by phone or in person, to competitive and recreational riders in the Bay Area who are familiar with the situation. Due to the similarity of the circumstances, Dr. Masucci
would also like to talk to people who knew John Peckham.

I understand that this is a deeply emotional topic. I know that Dr. Masucci will do everything he can do to approach the subject with respect and dignity. Hopefully this research will benefit our community.

There is a page set up with an overview of the study and contact information:

Please feel free to contact Dr. Masucci directly.

Thanks,
