The Winchester Boulevard Improvements project (Phase 1) is 30-40% finished. This project includes changes along Winchester Boulevard near the Campbell Community Center. The median work is complete except for the landscaping. The underground work took longer than planned because of difficulties getting the lighting right. Crosswalks at Winchester Boulevard and Campbell Avenue will have bulb-outs. These will shorten the walking distance from corner to corner, allow more standing room while waiting for the light to change and be decorated with stamped concrete. The project should be completed by April of this year.
Pollard Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Project: The contract was awarded to Chrisp Company. They have installed bike lane signs along Pollard Road near Rolling Hills Middle School but no striping has been done. The grant application mentioned providing educational materials for the public. The "Bicycle Safety Tips" flier used by the City of Campbell will be reworded so it's tailored to school-age children. Safety fliers from other communities will also be considered. In addition to the safety fliers, bike helmets will be provided. Purchase of the helmets is underway.
