What is the best way to get from Palm Drive on the Stanford campus to Alma in Menlo Park? My first attempt (based on a Google Map suggestion) was to take the bike path parallel to El Camino that goes by El Camino Park. But that bike path is very rough. Plus getting onto it when traveling from north to south looks awkward.
You can see this route at:

Should I just ride El Camino both ways for this stretch or is there some other route that is smooth, few stops, and away from heavy traffic?
It would be nice to have a more obvious route there especially since it is right next to the Caltrain station.
Cheers,
Tim

It depends on the time of day.
Most of the time I follow Palm-University under the train tracks (taking the road once you get to the El Camino bridge, because I think it's safer than riding on the sidewalk w/ pedestrians). I stay in the far right lane and take the right turn immediately after the tunnel, turning right onto Alma at the stop sign. I follow Alma all the way up to the bike path right before the train tracks, then take a right on the path and head over the bike bridge.
The route you suggested is admittedly bumpy, and if you get involved with the bus traffic it can be a bit dicey, but it's generally better during rush hour, when it gets tricky to make that right turn onto Alma. It just isn't quite as direct.
