Bicycle Research Focuses on Traffic Stress based Network Classification

Mineta Transportation Institute at San Jose State is funding a Bicycle Network research to provide a new classification scheme based on bicyclist's perspective using traffic stress as a primary criteria.
The research is also aimed at building a tool to analyze the network fitness not only on safety but also on connectivity and the ability to make trips between origin and destination in a region.

The researchers are interested in having an advocates meeting in early December to present the work and receive feedback on the research effort.

The description of the research document and the preliminary classification scheme can be found at http://www.axumcorp.com/bikenetwork.htm.

For questions and feedback please contact Maaza Mekuria at mmekuria at axumcorp.com.
