Caltrain has formed a new Bicycle Advisory Committee which held its first meeting this week. The first items on the agenda which were administrative in nature, included electing the chair and vice-chair, informing the committee and staff the new email address (bac at caltrain (dot) com), and randomly selecting the term of each member (either one or two year term).
Caltran staff presented a recently completed Draft Report on Bicycle Access. The study, titled "2010 Caltrain On-Board Bike Count and Dwell Time Summary Report," was prepared by Corey, Canapary and Galanis Research of San Francisco from data observed from April 21 to May 27, 2010. The report is not publicly available in an electronic format at this time. A link will be posted once it has been posted on Caltrain's website.
The Bicycle Advisory Committee is represented by the following:
Representing City and County of San Francisco:
Jessica Manzi, representing the public agency
Shirley Johnson - Chair, representing the county bike coalition
David Cade, representing the general public
Representing San Mateo County:
Darcy Forsell, representing the public agency
Ryan Kauffman, representing the county bike coalition
Cindi Choi, representing the general public
Representing Santa Clara County:
John Brazil, representing the public agency
Carlos Babcock - Vice Chair, representing the county bike coalition
Jerri-Ann Meyer, representing the general public
Prior to the meeting's adjournment, an ad-hoc committee was formed to review the committee bylaws. The ad-hoc committee is composed of three members.
The next BAC meeting will be held at 6:45 PM on Tuesday, September 28th. One of the first changes the BAC made was to choose a meeting time that would be convenient for Caltrain riders. The committee felt that a starting time of 6:45 PM would be convenient for both northbound and southbound riders. The meeting will be held in the second floor auditorium at Caltrain headquarters.
