Central - what's up?

Anyone else notice they moved the white line over (westbound side) and put a yellow line buffer from the median for a stretch of Central west of Wolfe? Any idea what the project here is all about? I can't find anything relevant on the County web site. I rode out that way yesterday and was shocked at how close the cars were coming by, then at work today three other Central riders echoed the same surprise.

I'm beginning to think Santa Clara County just hates cyclists! ;)
