Hi there, Wendee Crofoot, newest Safe Routes to School Coordinator! If my name sounds familiar, it's because I asked everyone I could reach to volunteer when I was managing the Bike Parking for San Jose events last year.
What brings me to SVBC? I am a bicycle and pedestrian safety advocate in Mountain View. Check out Great Streets Rengstorff Park website for details of what changes this group is asking from Mountain View City Council.
The Safe Routes to School Coordinator is a dream job where I get to share my road safety knowledge with children. Last week a 5th grade girl hurled a watermelon to the ground (mimicking the damage you can do to your skull if you are in an accident without a helmet) and watermelon pieces were found 10 feet away while half of the assembly stood up and cheered. Seriously, this is the good life.
I have worked in the non-profit environmental field for over a decade with Sierra Club and Committee for Green Foothills.
I think my car is the most boring place I can be and I am frequently found pedaling and walking around Mountain View.
A little PR for my local Bike Party: Always wanted to try San Jose Bike Party but live on the Peninsula? Checkout Peninsula Party! Every fourth Friday and always super fun
See you when the weather is good and the biking is flat!
