The City of San Jose needs your feedback. The city has recently opened trails along Coyote Creek, Penitencia Creek, and Albertson Parkway. Please take the following survey (one survey per project) to offer your thoughts about the community outreach, design and construction of each project. Your input is requested no later than Friday, February 26, 2010.
View Tour of California stage 4 in online video
Submitted by Colin Heyne on February 10, 2010 - 12:42pmA newly produced video showing the details of the Tour of California's stage 4 is available online. Stage 4 begins in San Jose and terminates in Modesto on Wednesday, May 19.
2010 is the fifth consecutive year - every year since the race began - that San Jose will play the role of host city. "We are excited to welcome back the 2010 Amgen Tour of California and play host to cyclists from all over the world," said San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed. "We invite cycling fans of all ages to visit San Jose for a few days and enjoy the race’s fast-paced action," said Mayor Reed.
San Jose ranks first in bike safety education
Submitted by Colin Heyne on February 8, 2010 - 10:45amThe Alliance for Biking and Walking has ranked the City of San Jose as the #1 city in the nation for providing bicycle safety education to children. The Alliance's "“Bicycling & Walking in the U.S. – 2010 Benchmarking Report" surveyed the 50 largest U.S. cities and found that one in eight San Jose children receive bicycle safety education.

San Jose to adopt promising new bike plan
Submitted by Colin Heyne on November 17, 2009 - 12:59pmToday, November 17, the San Jose City Council is expected to adopt an ambitious new bike plan. The plan sets several admirable benchmarks for San Jose cycling, including a doubling of bike lanes from 250 miles to 500 and an increase in ridership from 1.2 percent to 5.0 percent – all by 2020.
Some of the more distinguishing elements of the plan include a Caltrain bike share program and a cycle track on 4th St. Ultimately, the city is hoping to garner a Gold-level Bicycle Friendly City ranking from the League of American Cyclists.
