Bike To Work Day Events

Below are some of the events coming up in May (which is National Bicycle Month). Check this page for more information, or sign up for the weekly e-mail bulletin to get more information about Bike to Work Day in Silicon Valley.

Bike to Work Day Bag-stuffing Extravaganza

SVBC will host a bag-stuffing party in preparation for Bike to Work Day. Live bands, food, beverages, and prizes will keep the night fun as we pack goodie bags for Bike to Work participants and rock out to the tunes of Corduroy Jim. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the highly sought-after BTWD t-shirts!

Check out the calendar page for more information about this event.

Bike Away from Work Bash

On Bike to Work Day, bring a buddy and book it to our Bike Away From Work Bash. Can't get enough of Bike to Work Day? Sad to see the end of such a fun day? Wish you could enjoy the evening with like-minded bicycling brethren? Then come join SVBC as we break out the brews and toast to the reduction of Silicon Valley’s carbon footprint!

We have two events this year, one in Santa Clara county on the 14th, and one in San Mateo county the following evening, the 15th. Information is as follows:

In San Jose, Thursday, May 14:
Plant 51
734 the Alameda
San Jose, CA 95126
6:00 - 8:00 pm
Featuring music by Open Space Project

In Belmont, Friday, May 15:
St. James Gate Irish Pub
1410 Old County Road
Belmont, CA 94002

These events are free to SVBC members, and $25 for non-members. The entrance fee covers food, beer, music, and a year-long membership, which strengthens the voice and position of all cyclists on the road!

Over and Under Tour

To celebrate the opening of new bicycle and pedestrian under and over crossings, as well as other recently-completed ones, the VTA Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition are sponsoring a self-guided "Over and Under Tour" on May 17 from 10 AM - 3 PM (the Sunday after Bike to Work Day).

The participating over and under crossings are available on this event's page.
