Well, none of us likes to see our gas bill going up. But I think the good news is that people will consider other forms of transportation. On Monday I did a combination of bike and light rail to work. I couldn't believe how crowded the light rail was at late morning! At one point there were nine bikes in the car!
Last time prices were high it really seemed like there were more bikes on the roads. The prices are a reminder that we can't continue the way we have been for the last 80 years. I'm trying to drive less (and I get 30 mpg!) but when gas prices are lower I get lazy.

I sometimes ride lightrail
I sometimes ride lightrail home after a late meeting downtown and usually the bike rack is full with a couple bikes in the aisles. It works and people use it.

high oil costs
Considering other forms of transportation is a good idea as a short term remedy for nonstop oil price hike. Some are also having their own way on how to minimize the striking price of gasoline. There is a growing social media campaign for a gasoline boycott. It is not the first time, and it definitely won't be the last. The going notion is that if everybody stops getting gas for a day, the evil oil businesses will be so hurting for money that they will bring down the price of gas. If that could possibly work, then it would be a good idea, but it couldn't work even if every person wanted it to. Here is the proof:Gas boycott would not work, despite Facebook campaigns.
