Campbell: November B/PAC update

November 21, 2011 - 10:42am -- colin

Thanks as always to Laura Smith for providing this update on the bicycle and pedestrian goings-on in the City of Campbell

Repaving on Campbell Ave from Superior Ave to Fulton Ave was completed ahead of schedule. The result is a nice, smooth road with well marked bike lanes.

Winchester Blvd Improvements (Phase 1)
Construction began on this project last month. There will be bulb-outs at the intersection of Winchester Ave and Campbell Ave. This will shorten the distance pedestrians need to walk to cross the street thus making it safer for them. Other planned improvements include new sidewalks along Winchester Ave on the Community Center side of the road, landscape medians on Winchester Ave from Campbell Ave to Budd Ave and decorative street lights.

Winchester Blvd Improvements (Phase 2)
Construction for this project is scheduled to begin next summer. Again, bulb-outs are planned for the intersections of Winchester Ave and Rincon/Kennedy/Budd Aves and at the VTA station. Healthy trees will replace the diseased ones currently lining Winchester Ave. New LED white lights will replace the orange lights in the street lights. Studies have shown that the white lights provide brighter lighting for better visibility after dark.

Check the BPAC web page. Its being updated with Safety Tip materials.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
