The Portola Valley Town Council met on June 8 and included a discussion of bicyclist safety on the agenda. The night resulted in three positive agreements:
- - The council voted to establish a Bike and Traffic Committee.
- - The town engineer will engage in a study regarding the feasibility of installing official state bike lanes on Alpine and Portola Roads.
- - The town will look into signage alerting drivers to look for bikes on secondary roads.
These are great developments in a part of San Mateo County that is very popular with cyclists. SVBC supports Portola Valley's efforts to improve safety for all road users.
