This San José Trails update comes to us from Yves Zsutty, Trail Manager for the City of San José Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services
We are happy to report that the Guadalupe River Trail from Woz Way to Virginia Street will be open this week. Expect to access the trail by Tuesday, April 26 in the afternoon. The west bank trail extends downtown’s popular trail by 0.4 mile and offers better access for residents in the Greater Gardner and Washington Area neighborhoods.
Nearby work on the Virginia Street Bridge extension by the Santa Clara Valley Water District is also now complete. However, the overall flood management project is still on-going and will require immediate closure of the east bank trail from Woz Way to Grant Avenue. Please be aware that closure of the older east bank trail may occur as soon as Wednesday morning. Detour signs will be posted on closure fencing.
Travel tips:
- - If travelling southbound on the trail, ride/walk beneath Woz Way and take the existing ramps to near the Children’s Discovery Museum’s parking lot entrance. Follow the new trail along the parking lot and southward to Virginia Street. At Virginia Street, you’ll use Palm Street to reach Willow Street and the nearby Highway 87 Bikeway.
- - If travelling northbound along Palm Street, make a left onto Virginia Street to reach the new trail entrance. Travel along the trail to reach the Chidren’s Discovery Museum parking lot and Woz Way. From Way Way, use the existing ramps to reach the Woz Way under-crossing and continue your journey along the trail.
