A double rainbow celebrates a winter walk

Rainbow
December 17, 2012 - 1:15pm -- Megan

Each month, Redwood Shores Elementary hosts a themed Walk N' Roll day. For December, the theme was "Winter Walk." Just as the name suggests, the winter weather came along for the walk offering rainy skies. Though the rain did fall, the sun continued to shine. And what did this bring? A DOUBLE RAINBOW! Kids were bowing down to the rainbow in excitement; it was quite the sight.

In November, the 5th graders had the highest percentage of walkers and bikers. We decided to recognize the Kindergartners valiant efforts for December. Though they did not have the highest percentage, there were more Kindergarteners walking or rolling to school compared to all other grades. That means they are the new Golden Sneaker winners! Can they hold their title into the new year?

For this event, students were not only encouraged to get to school actively, but also to bring in hats, scarves, and jackets. These donations of warmth will be donated to families in need.
