Winchester Blvd Improvements (Phase 1): This project is complete. It turned out well and makes valuable changes that facilitate both pedestrian and bike traffic.
Winchester Blvd Improvements (Phase ll): This project is on hold until PG&E finishes its project on Winchester Blvd. They are putting the utilities underground along this stretch of Winchester Blvd. This delay means Phase ll may not begin until January 2013.
Hacienda Avenue Improvement Project: This is a very exciting "green street" project - the first of its kind in the area. Staff presented the general concept for intersections at Virginia Avenue, Capri Drive, and Winchester Blvd. The current concept at Winchester includes a bike box in front of the eastbound lanes. The Council Study Session for this project was in August and it was presented to the entire Council in September. This project is featured on the www.CityofCampbell.com website's home page. Check it out - very innovative with some interesting ideas for accommodating all users of this area.
Campbell Avenue Portal Project: This is another very exciting project. Basically it involves portals on Campbell Avenue under Hwy 17. Three public meetings have been held and four design concepts were presented. A Council Study Session was in August and the project concepts were brought before the entire Council in September. In this case, one picture is worth a thousand words. Download the meeting minutes here. On the left hand side, scroll down to item 15 and open it. This brings up several pages of the project description and, by continuing to scroll down, the four design pictures come up. Each design is similar with slight variations and the final design will be a refinement of these ideas. This was a "dream project" for BPAC several years ago and it's exciting to watch the progress.
