Support on-street bike parking in Mountain View

Mountain View sidewalk without bike parking.

This guest blog was submitted by Wendee Crofoot of the Mountain View Coalition for Sustainable Planning.

Mountain View has a lack of convenient on street bike parking, the solution is more conspicuous, convenient, and plentiful racks. Bicyclists lock their bikes to tree cages, light posts, and railings that were designed to assist the elderly and disabled.

Do you live, work, shop, or play in Mountain View? Would you spend more time and/or money in downtown Mountain View if bike parking were conspicuous, convenient, and plentiful? We need your support to advocate with several agencies, city staff, and city council.

Please sign this petition and let them know that bike parking matters to more than a few of us: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/137/302/150/convenient-bike-parking-on-ca...

Google map showing current and proposed bike racks: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=200216299762545362164.000474c4508464... If you use street view, you will notice bikes locked to tree cages, light posts, etc. in most of the proposed additional bike rack locations.
