UPDATE 5/31: A suggested bicycle detour route has been provided - see directions at the bottom of this post. A map of the detour can be found by clicking here (PDF, 1.75 MB).

The road closure is necessary to replace a regional water pipeline as part of the Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 project. Some additional construction work in this area will continue through October 2012.

During the closure, cars will be detoured onto Hwy 280. Bicycles will be detoured to Hillsborough city streets. Detour signage is now being posted along the routes and more information will be available online (including maps and alternate detour routes) later this week at: www.sfwater.org/SCT.

The road closure will be in effect for cars and other vehicles 24 hours a day, Monday through Sunday, from June 11 to June 29. Bicyclists only are expected to have through access on Sundays (however, the road will be closed for cyclists Monday to Saturday – including Saturdays June 16th and 23rd).
